乔金·凡·温克尔

这个世界充满了故事. Some stories are crafted from memory and some tales echo the dramas and joys of everyday life. While still other stories emerge from dreams as metaphors for the complex human experience shaped by inner conscious and unconscious terrain. The shifting through all of these possibilities for me as an artist involves deep listening. My film/video and audio research centers around this practice of listening. 这种倾听侧重于恢复力, 环境管理, 以及人权问题, including the often overlooked aspect of children’s/youth’s rights. The listening is connected with compassion building and the longing to increase empathy and potentially motivate positive change.

Most of the large-scale work I am involved with choreographing or participating in has strong roots in collaboration. Whether I am working as a lead artist facilitating projects with community members, 儿童和青少年, 大学生在画廊, 艺术中心, 或者儿童博物馆, or on films along side and in tandem with colleagues, it is the active ability to listen deeply to others which makes these multi-dimensional and multi-media projects essentially possible. My role is often like a composer, weaving together dynamic visual and auditory spaces.
